Startup Valencia, through its partners Query Layer, Bounsel, Code Contract and Monolegal, has brought together the technology of the Valencian entrepreneurial ecosystem and its innovative solutions within its Legaltech Hub, with the aim of enhancing synergies and promoting the shift of the legal sector towards a digital transformation.

Under the title “Technology as an ally for the digital transformation of your firm“, the president of the Digital and Legaltech Section, Salvador Silvestre, and the CEO of Startup Valencia, Nacho Mas, welcomed the participants to an event held at the Valencia Bar Association (ICAV).

The aim of the event was to assess the state of the legal profession, identify its needs, and develop solutions in line with these needs. This is in addition to the search for synergies, from both Valencian lawyers and tech developers who allow the necessary impetus and change in the sector.

During this first event, two round tables were held. The first one addressed the keys and innovative solutions to understand the digital transformation of law firms. This round table was moderated by Álvaro Orts from Orts Consultores and Iga Kurowska from Aktion, Luis Gosalbez from Metricson, and Bernat Bonet from Bonet&Rubio.

This type of conference “allows lawyers to internalise the idea that digitisation is necessary“, explained Bernat Bonet, who underlined how “it is essential to digitise our processes in order to optimise our work and be able to focus on what is important and not just on what is urgent“. He added that “one of the main challenges is to make your client understand that the solution you offer is useful for them and is not going to replace them as a lawyer“.

In her speech, Iga Kurowska from Aktion pointed out that she understood digitalisation within this sector as “a component of innovation“. For her, “innovation is made up of three key elements: processes, people and technology“, she said.

The second panel discussion answered the question of how innovation and technology can help lawyers be more productive and differentiate themselves from the competition by selling more.

Participants included Kryzstof Szypillo from QueryLayer, Beatriz Turumbay from CodeContract and Pilar Prados from Bounsel, while Lucia Carrau from Innova.Legal moderated the round table.

Startup Valencia brings legal technology

One of the main challenges that we see from companies specialising in LegalTech is providing these tools to law firms and making sure that they know how to integrate them into their processes,” said Beatriz Turumbay from CodeContract.

Meanwhile, Pilar Prados explained how the aim of startups that develop this type of technology “is not just to develop a tool, but to get law firms to integrate it into their activity“. In this sense, she highlighted the importance of technology as an ally for law firms.

On the other hand, the moderator of this second round table discussion affirmed the importance of bringing lawyers and tech solutions in the Valencian Community closer together.

At the end of the debate, the partners of Startup Valencia Query Layer, Bounsel, Code Contract and Monolegal presented their tech solutions in the Marketplace to the lawyers, through which the attendees had the opportunity to learn about the innovative Valencian legal ecosystem and its innovation solutions first hand.
