VDS has announced that it will present the 2026 Honorary City of Valencia Award to David Rosa, Director of Valencia Innovation Capital. This award, promoted by VDS in collaboration with the Valencia City Council and presented annually by the Mayor, recognizes his trajectory and his decisive role in consolidating Valencia as a leading technology hub in Europe.

From Startup Valencia, the organizer of VDS, his leadership in driving strategic initiatives is highlighted, as they have strengthened the connection between startups, corporations and institutions, accelerating the evolution of the local technological ecosystem and its global positioning. His work has been instrumental in shaping a model based on public-private collaboration, positioning Valencia as one of the most dynamic emerging ecosystems in Southern Europe.

For David Rosa, “it is an honor to receive this award within the framework of VDS, an international tech event that reflects the dynamism and ambition of the city’s innovation ecosystem.” He added, “Valencia has proven that when talent, startups, corporations and institutions share a common vision, it is possible to build an environment where innovation grows, attracts investment and generates opportunities. This award represents that collective energy that positions us as a technological reference in Europe.”

He also noted that this recognition “is a clear example of the value of public-private collaboration and of the essential bridge between the City Council and the business ecosystem.” He added, “Major city-transforming projects can hardly be tackled in isolation; it is precisely this collaboration that enables knowledge sharing, combines capabilities and pushes new boundaries. When public institutions create the right conditions and companies contribute innovation and execution capacity, the door opens to initiatives with real impact on both the economy and society.”

Paula Llobet, Councillor for Tourism, Innovation and Investment Attraction, highlighted that David Rosa is a key figure in the innovative transformation of the city. “His vision and ability to connect talent, companies and institutions have played a decisive role in advancing Valencia as a leading technological and entrepreneurial hub,” she explained.

Juan Luis Hortelano, President of Startup Valencia, stated that “David Rosa’s work is essential in consolidating a collaborative model that now serves as an example for other cities, and this recognition is more than deserved given his commitment and strategic vision.”

Nacho Mas, CEO of Startup Valencia and VDS, emphasized that “this award recognizes not only David’s career, but also his ability to drive a shared vision for the city. His leadership is key to connecting talent, companies and institutions, and to placing Valencia on the international innovation map.”

This recognition is part of the joint commitment between VDS and the Valencia City Council to highlight the individuals driving the city’s technological transformation, annually honoring those whose trajectory significantly contributes to technological, business and social development, reinforcing Valencia’s position as one of Europe’s leading innovation hubs.
