Naturgy is committed to driving the innovative and technological ecosystem in Valencia and has partnered with Startup Valencia to realize this commitment. The aim of this alliance is to enhance and energize innovation in new technologies related to the energy sector.
The energy company joins Startup Valencia as a partner to channel these objectives. Both entities will work to promote innovative projects that offer disruptive solutions and positively impact the shift towards a more sustainable energy sector.
Thanks to this collaboration, startups and entrepreneurs in Valencia will be within the orbit of Naturgy’s ecosystem, facilitating their participation in the programs and projects that the energy company launches to support this energy transition.
For Juan Luis Hortelano, president of Startup Valencia, this alliance with a multinational company “with a track record like Naturgy is a boost to Valencia’s innovative and technological ecosystem, providing a close partner to support and drive projects that enhance the use of renewable energies and decarbonization.”
Commitment to Innovation and Sustainability
Naturgy Innovahub boasts a broad portfolio of various ongoing industrial projects linked to innovation in the energy sector, which have already resulted in the creation of two disruptive companies, GIRA Wind and W2BM. The first of these companies, in collaboration with Ruralia, Postelectrica Fabricación, and Invenergy Services, aims to fully recycle wind turbines and recover materials from blades and other parts of the wind turbine for subsequent use in a second life. The second project, driven together with Greene, aims to develop a technology for producing biomethane from syngas derived from the gasification of industrial solid waste.
These different projects are a reality thanks to the relationships that Naturgy has established with the innovative ecosystem, including agreements with universities, work with technological centers and research groups, sectorial and business associations, organizations and administrations, and, of course, with entrepreneurs.
Additionally, the energy company has a business incubation program, ‘Connecting Energy‘, to promote entrepreneurship in the energy sector with a focus on sustainable innovation. Through this initiative, the company supports entrepreneurs who want to launch projects that generate a structural change in the energy system and contribute to the energy transition in areas such as efficiency and responsible consumption, renewable gases, sustainable mobility, or circular economy and waste management, among others.
The ‘Connecting Energy‘ program connects company professionals with startups developing businesses related to the energy transition. The company has professionals who can share their knowledge and experience with these entrepreneurs, guide them on the sector’s needs, help them develop their business plan, define their growth strategy, and provide the boost they need to achieve their goals.
