La Terminal, the new international tech hub of the Valencian innovative ecosystem, situated in the historic maritime station of La Marina de Valencia, is beginning to take shape. Construction begins today, and projections suggest that the facility will be operational by early next year.

The project, spearheaded by Startup Valencia, will entail an investment exceeding three million euros for Valencia Innovation District, the company awarded the 35-year concession. Its partners include Ángela Pérez, Founder of Health in Code; Iker Marcaide, Founder of Zubi Group; Quique Calabuig, Founder of Kaiho Capital; Ricardo Orts, architect and industrial engineer of the project; Isabel Úbeda, Founder of Inversiones L’Anella; Raúl Mir, Founder of Ángela IE, and the Valencian Startup Association.

5,000 square metres at the service of tech companies

Once finished, the former passenger terminal built in 1985, situated adjacent to the Clock Building in the heart of Valencia’s innovation district, will cover over 5,000 square metres and will house over 500 highly skilled professionals. La Terminal will become an inclusive space, welcoming all those interested in engaging with the world of innovation, entrepreneurship, technology and investment. It will serve as a gathering place for key stakeholders of the entrepreneurial ecosystem and will position the Valencia brand as a globally recognised tech hub.

It is estimated that over 5,000 professionals specialising in tech and innovation will participate annually in training, networking activities, and events, as well as in open innovation programmes developed by corporations and institutions.

Ángela Pérez, President of Valencia Innovation District, emphasises the significance of showcasing and promoting the Valencia region as a “global innovation hub with the optimal balance between quality of life, professional development, and talent“.

Nacho Mas, CEO of Startup Valencia, shares a similar perspective and highlights that this space and its associated projects will have a positive impact on the traditional business landscape of Valencia. “Furthermore, it will serve to attract international investment and tech companies, fostering skilled employment and nurturing talent within the region“.
