Hydros Power S. L.

Transport alone is responsible for one third of greenhouse gas emissions. Although lithium batteries are proposed as an effective solution to decarbonisation, they are not scalable to all vehicles. A good example is captive fleets of logistics vehicles, where hydrogen offers three times the productivity and twice the lifetime of lithium. It also eliminates the need for duplicate batteries and high contracted electrical power and reduces by 100 times the amount of critical metals such as lithium needed to decarbonise this sector.

However, its adoption is complex, as it depends on the development of an extensive global distribution network, which requires enormous amounts of capital and time. In addition, manufacturers of these logistics vehicles are finding it difficult to develop hydrogen models, as this involves high R&D investments.

At Hydros Power we are aware of this problem, and to offer an effective solution to the decarbonisation of these vehicles, we have created the STELION Supply Network. This is a comprehensive solution comprising: a hydrogen powertrain that will allow fleets to be transformed without the need to purchase new vehicles or make new designs; interchangeable pressurised hydrogen capsules that will allow hydrogen to be supplied to our modules, eliminating 27% of the costs associated with conventional refrigerated hose supply; and finally, a station that will generate the hydrogen on-site by charging these capsules and eliminating the dependence on the supply network, which currently does not exist.

Innovation is part of Hydros Power’s DNA. That’s why we developed Machine Learning-based software that will minimise the hydrogen consumption of the vehicle and extend the life of the fuel cell. In addition, our patent allows us to eliminate the negative effects of vehicle vibrations on the fuel cell: hydrogen leaks, efficiency losses and high maintenance.

Our product will therefore be fully scalable and modular and will be aimed at both manufacturers and fleet operators of this type of vehicle. Currently, there are already 60,000 hydrogen forklifts in operation and exponential growth is expected in the coming years. It is worth mentioning that in the medium and long term, both the stations and the capsules will enable the creation of a last-mile hydrogen distribution network for all kinds of applications: use in industrial processes, off-grid energy storage, heating, etc.
