Startup Valencia hosted the city’s own Startup Night last Thursday, an event designed to bring together all the agents of the Valencian innovation ecosystem and celebrate the achievements of 2022. More than 300 people, including entrepreneurs, government representatives and members of startup incubators, attended the meeting at the Veles e Vents venue of the Marina de Valencia.

The evening offered a chance to toast to the success of Valencia Digital Summit’s fifth edition, which this year broke attendance records with more than 12,000 registrations, as well as to the new projects yet to come that seek to scale the Valencian ecosystem internationally in 2023.

A few hours before the event, Startup Valencia had held its General Assembly of Members, where it reviewed the 2022-2023 activity plan and the roadmap for meeting the challenges of the coming year. The reach of Valencia Digital Summit and the international prestige it gained were presented as fundamental factors in the consolidation of the Valencian innovation ecosystem as a European benchmark. The development of the startup tech hub project in the Marina de Valencia is another of the challenges that the association has set itself for the coming year.

The Assembly also reasserted its eagerness to promote the internationalisation of the ecosystem, by strengthening bilateral relations with the United States and Latin America through the business bridge created with Miami’s tech investment hub.

The incorporation of Virginia Sánchez into Startup Valencia’s Board of Directors was also announced. The board is now made up of the following members: Juan Luis Hortelano, the President; Javier Megias, the Vice-President; Jaime Esteban, the Treasurer; Judith Saladrigas, the Secretary, and Ángel Alberich-Bayarri, Juan Cartagena, Antonio Huerta, Iker Marcaide, Juan Martínez Climent, Fernando Marzal, Paloma Mas Pellicer, Virginia Sánchez, Diego Moya and Eduardo Nebot.

Sánchez has extensive experience in entrepreneurship and business development, helping talented entrepreneurs design new business models and grow their companies. In recent years she has focused on impact generation, as she believes that companies are a great tool to improve the future. She connects talented people with others who can help them accelerate their route to success and reduce the risks of entrepreneurship. She also makes investments as a business angel and has been part of Zubi Capital’s investment committee, an organisation that creates and invests in companies with social and environmental impact, identifying business opportunities, challenges to solve, creating teams and accompanying them in the creation of startups from scratch.
